Interesting read: "Lulu Meets God and Doubts Him" complete!

I just finished this debut novel by Danielle Ganek. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The title of this book is the name of the masterpiece painting that the artist in the novel displays for an art show before he gets hit by a cab and dies, thus increasing the value of his work, and the frenzy that follows to own a piece of  his now-famous paintings. The title is a reflection of the spiritual journey that ensues during the creative process. He believed that through creating something you are the closest to God, and discussed the doubt that naturally comes from questioning your talent or abilities during this creative process. It was an insightful, easy read, and was written from the perspective of a girl working in the art gallery. It was the first book I read that involved the art world, and I would like to read more in the future.

"Lulu Meets God and Doubts Him" by Danielle Ganek

I've just started this book that involves the New York art gallery world, and a painting called Lulu Meets God and Doubts Him. It seems very interesting so far, so stay tuned for updates!

My first visit to Florida

I have been in Florida for a week now, and have been having a blast! There is so much to do here and the beaches are absolutely beautiful. My friends that I am staying with down here have a boat, and when we went out on the boat, we saw many dolphins, and even a manatee!! It was awesome to see sea creatures outside of SeaWorld, and in their natural habitat. Also, my friend has a lake behind her house that is FILLED with turtles. Yesterday, we went out and fed the turtles and sea gulls old bread that we had. I am entranced with all the wildlife here and am amazed with this beautiful state. It was definitely worth the the 27 years I had to wait to get here!

"My Name is Memory" completed at last!

So I finally finished "My name is Memory" and I really enjoyed it. I love books that are about the soul; I find them really interesting. Although this book had a very climatic ending, it left you to wonder how things worked out, which was quite disappointing. It alluded to a happy ending but didn't give a definite answer to how things worked out. I would love for this book to have a sequel so that my questions could be answered. The conclusion of the book took place at the beach, so it was only fitting to complete this book while at the beach. It was a great book overall, although the ending was a little disappointing. I'm excited to start my new book, "Lulu Meets God and Doubts Him."

Florida Bound!

A few friends and I are heading out to Tampa, Florida tomorrow morning. I have wanted to visit Florida since I was a little girl and  have never been, but am super excited about this road trip adventure that I'm about to embark on. We will be spending time on the beach, and in Orlando, and maybe even Key West. I can't wait! Also, this will give me plenty of opportunities to catch up on my summer reading in the car and on the beach. I will post pictures of my trip when I return and will update everyone on my adventures that await.

What adventures have you embarked on this summer?

Ah, Summer

When the summer began I had high hopes of being a much more avid reader than I have been. I couldn't wait for all the free time I would have to read. But as the summer wears on,  I have spent most of my time outside or in the water, or with family and friends and haven't read as much as I anticipated. So, this month I am turning over a new leaf. I decided that the best way to start is to set goals for myself. So not only am I going to finally finish "My Name is Memory", but I also plan on reading "Lulu Meets God and Doubts Him", a novel by Danielle Ganek and something else that it even a surprise to me at this point.  I hope everyone else is finding time for their summer reading and is enjoying this glorious, but hot Texas summer.  Stay tuned for updates!

SUMMER HAS ARRIVED!!

Since summer has started, in addition to reading, I have spent a lot of time enjoying our Texas rivers. They are a valuable resource as well as an enjoyable way to stay cool during the smoldering Texas summers. I've also visited SeaWorld and enjoyed learning about the sea life, and had a blast watching the shows (The Azul dolphin show is my favorite!),  and riding the rides. I have also found some new bike trails to try out this summer that I am very excited about. Summer is my favorite time of year, and there is so much to do in Texas! I hope all of you are enjoying these first few weeks of summer as much as I am!
